Wow, it has been a while.
I turned 68 in March.
In 2018 I started OMAD (One Meal A Day). I made a deal with myself that if I was only going to eat once/day, then there would be no dietary restrictions at all. None.
The only way I could eat just once a day would be to eat late in the evening. You can hear the scolds now. "Never eat after dark!"
It seems that all those years of high protein and low carbs produced a rebound effect. I started consuming desserts and drinking alcohol, wine, and gin mostly.
Summary of OMAD: I did not lose weight eating once a day, but I maintained my weight. I hovered around 212-215 for a few years. Skipping details and data. here.
I figured my ideal weight would be 185, maybe 200. And I was going to do another 30-day diet and get close to where I would like to be. But I never got started on another 30-day plan.
Then an odd development took place. I was mandated to take a half-hour lunch at my new job. I could have, and should have done something other than eat, but lunch is lunch. Right? I started eating high-protein lunches, typically about five ounces of salami.
Starting in July 2025 to now--April 2026--I went from 215 lb. to 230 lb. Unacceptable.
Now I ponder my next move. 15 lb. in nine months! Ouch!
Stay tuned.
