The latter phrase seems a bit more successful.
I am not a strong believer in changing names for the purpose of deception. Discrimination becomes affirmative action. Taxation becomes revenue enhancement. Socialism become Progressivism or Populism.
Political terms are often deceptive and so too are consumptive regimens. You might not like the word "diet" but the definition remains. You can call it an eating plan but an eating plan is exactly what a diet is.
You can call it a lifestyle but in regards to the nutritional-dispatch facet of the lifestyle, that is called a diet.
